혼자 여행하는 사람들은 자신의 일정과 취향에 맞춰 자유롭게 여행할 수 있다는 점에서 혼행을 선택합니다. 하지만 혼자 여행하는 과정에서는 식사, 사진 촬영, 공연·전시, 액티비티처럼 혼자 해결하기 어렵거나 누군가와 경험을 공유하고 싶은 순간이 발생합니다. 반면 기존의 동행은 여행 전체를 함께하거나 상대방의 일정과 취향을 지속적으로 맞춰야 하는 경우가 많아 혼행의 자유를 유지하기 어렵습니다. 이에 혼행 경험자를 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하여 동행이 필요한 순간과 장기 동행에 대한 부담, 낯선 사람과의 만남에서 느끼는 불안 등을 살펴보았습니다. 그 결과 혼행자는 여행 전체를 함께할 사람보다 특정한 목적과 시간 동안 함께하고, 목적이 끝난 후에는 다시 각자의 여행으로 돌아갈 수 있는 관계를 선호한다는 점을 발견했습니다. MOA는 이러한 인사이트를 바탕으로 필요한 순간에만 연결되는 일회성 동행 서비스를 제안합니다. 사용자가 원하는 목적과 시간, 동행의 범위를 직접 선택하여 혼행의 자유는 유지하면서도 필요한 순간에는 새로운 사람과 경험을 나눌 수 있도록 돕는 서비스입니다.
Solo travelers choose to travel alone for the freedom to explore at their own pace and according to their own preferences. However, certain moments during a solo trip—such as dining, taking photos, attending performances or exhibitions, and participating in activities—can be difficult to navigate alone or feel more meaningful when shared with someone. Traditional travel companionship often involves traveling together for an entire trip or continuously adjusting to another person’s schedule and preferences, making it difficult to maintain the freedom that solo travel offers. To better understand these needs, in-depth interviews were conducted with experienced solo travelers, exploring the situations in which they seek companionship, the burdens of long-term travel partnerships, and concerns about meeting strangers. The findings revealed that solo travelers are more likely to prefer companionship limited to a specific purpose and period of time, allowing them to return to their own journeys once the shared experience is over, rather than having someone accompany them throughout the entire trip. Based on these insights, MOA proposes a one-time travel companionship service that connects solo travelers only when they need it. By allowing users to choose their preferred activity, time, and scope of companionship, MOA helps them preserve the freedom of solo travel while sharing meaningful experiences with others when the moment calls for it.
